Getting the best result from a PDF

  • Use the e-statement your bank emails or the PDF you download from net banking. These contain text the converter can read.
  • Scanned or photographed statements are images and can’t be read yet.
  • Check the green “balances add up” badge in Step 3. If rows are flagged, fix the highlighted cells before downloading.
  • Lines that aren’t transactions, such as the address block or summary, are listed under “Lines the converter skipped” so you can confirm nothing was missed.

Questions

My PDF statement asks for a password.

Enter it when the converter asks. Banks usually build it from part of your name, date of birth, customer ID or account number; the email that came with the statement explains the format. The password is used only in your browser to open the file.

Why does it say the PDF has no readable text?

The PDF is a scanned image or a photo, not an e-statement. Download the statement again from net banking as a PDF or Excel file, which contains real text.

Narrations are split or merged with the next entry.

Long narrations that wrap onto two lines are joined automatically. If one is joined to the wrong entry, click the narration cell in Step 3 and edit it.

Can I convert a statement with several pages?

Yes. All pages are read and the entries are combined in date order. Repeated page headers and totals are skipped.
