Typing bank entries into Tally one by one takes hours. Importing them as XML takes a few minutes. This guide covers the whole process, from the bank’s PDF to vouchers in your books.
Load the PDF or Excel statement into the converter. Enter your company name and bank ledger exactly as they appear in Tally, check the suggested ledgers, and download two files: ledger masters XML and vouchers XML.
| What Tally reports | Cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Ledger does not exist | A ledger name in the file isn’t in your company, or is spelled differently. | Import the ledger masters file first, or rename the ledger in the converter to match Tally. |
| Date outside the financial year or books beginning | The statement covers dates before your books begin or outside the company’s period. | Check the company’s financial year and “books beginning from” date, or remove those rows. |
| Wrong company | The company name in the file doesn’t match the open company. | Leave the company name blank in Step 2 and open the right company before importing. |
| Closing balance doesn’t match | An entry was skipped, duplicated or read into the wrong column. | Re-check flagged rows in Step 3 and compare the count of entries with the statement. |
Ready to convert a statement? It takes a minute and nothing is uploaded.
Open the converterEducational mode is meant for learning and only accepts vouchers on certain dates of the month, so most real statements will be partly rejected. Use a licensed copy for client data.
Yes, importing the same vouchers file again adds the entries again. Import each statement once, or delete the earlier vouchers first.
Restore the backup you took before importing. That’s the safest way to remove a batch of vouchers.
